CREATIVE CURRICULUM, TEACHING STRATEGIES GOLD

Creative Curriculum
The Creative Curriculum is a research-based approach to early childhood education. It is designed to support children’s learning in all areas of development — social-emotional, physical, language, cognitive, literacy, math, science, and the arts. Our teachers use hands-on, engaging activities that encourage exploration, problem-solving, and creativity. The curriculum adapts to each child’s needs, ensuring that every child feels confident and successful.
Teaching Strategies GOLD
Teaching Strategies GOLD is an assessment system that helps us understand your child’s strengths, growth, and areas for development. We observe children during everyday activities and record progress in key developmental areas. This allows us to create personalized learning plans, track milestones, and share meaningful updates with families. It also ensures we meet state early learning standards while supporting each child’s unique journey.
Smart Teaching
Smart Teaching means using the best tools, methods, and data to guide instruction. We combine our curriculum, assessments, and teacher expertise to plan lessons that challenge and inspire children. It’s about being intentional — knowing when to introduce new skills, when to encourage more practice, and when to step back so children can explore independently.

Why This Matters for Your Child
This approach ensures that your child receives high-quality, personalized learning every day. They build strong social skills, develop problem-solving abilities, and gain confidence in their own abilities. With Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD working together, your child is supported in every area of development, giving them the best possible start for kindergarten and beyond.
Play-Based Learning in Our Preschool Program
Children are naturally driven to play, and we harness this innate motivation through our play-based curriculum. This approach transforms play into meaningful learning experiences, where children are encouraged to explore, experiment, discover, and solve problems in a supportive environment.

Types of Play in Our Classrooms
-
Child-Initiated Play: Children take the lead, developing their own ideas, setting the rules, and deciding how the play unfolds. This type of play fosters creativity, independence, and decision-making skills.
-
Teacher-Guided Play: Educators offer gentle guidance to expand children’s thinking and enhance their play experiences—without taking control. This support helps children grow cognitively and socially while staying engaged in their own interests.
-
Scaffolding Learning: Our teachers provide the right level of support at the right moment to deepen understanding and promote growth. This may involve asking thoughtful questions, like, “What could you do at the bottom of your block tower to make it more stable?” or offering gentle suggestions, such as, “Try using bigger blocks at the base to help it stay standing.”

Screenings
As a requirement of our participation in the Ohio Step Up to Quality program, each family must complete an Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) for their child.
The ASQ provides a helpful look at how your child is progressing in important areas like communication, social skills, motor skills, and problem-solving skills. Our teachers review and score the information you provided to identify your child’s strengths, uncover new milestones, and potentially reveal any areas where your child may need support. Each questionnaire consists of two screenings:

-
ASQ-3 is a set of simple questions to check child development.
-
ASQ:SE-2 is a set of questions with a focus on social-emotional development.
